Buyer's Guide: The best foundational products everybody should take

If you walked into one of our Lindberg Nutrition retail stores with the goal of getting healthier, we'd suggest using products from the three nutrition categories below. Whether you're a bodybuilder or a grandmother, you need foundational products to achieve optimal health. Make it your priority to take a good multi-vitamin, high-quality protein, and omega-3s from flax and fish oil daily.

Getting all the nutrients your body needs is easy with a multi-vitamin formula. A 1-per-day multi is a formula that gives you reasonable potencies of just about every vitamin and mineral except calcium and magnesium.

Try Lindberg Mega One, Lindberg Pink® Women's Multi 1, or Fitness Labs Fitness Multi 1.

Two-to-Five Per Day

You can also consider a 2-5 per day multiple that generally provides higher potencies of vitamin B complex, vitamin C, and additional calcium and magnesium.

Try Fitness Multi 2, Fitness Multi 4, or Lindberg Ultimate Capsule Multi.

Vitamin Pack or Powder

To upgrade to an even more potent formula, try Lindberg Varsity Pack 2 or Pink Pack for Women.

Each formula contains healthy amounts of all minerals, including calcium and magnesium, in a 7 or 8-capsule-a-day formula. Lindberg Varsity Pack 2 also comes in a convenient powder formula, Varsity 2 Powder.

Protein Powder

Whey Protein

One serving per day of whey protein provides 25 grams of high-quality protein with minimal carbs (about 4 grams) and fat (about 2 grams). That's equal to the protein in a 4-egg breakfast, without the fat. It's ideal between meals, after workouts or as the foundation for a meal.

Our favorite whey proteins are Fitness Labs WheyFit, and Lindberg Whey Protein.

Whey Isolate

Upgrade to a whey isolate if you are seeking a completely fat-free and lactose-free product.

Try Piping Rock Whey Protein Isolate or Fitness Labs WheyFit Isolate.

Protein Blend

Protein Blends are another great protein powder. These generally contain several different proteins like whey, milk and egg white. Each protein is digested and absorbed at a different rate, creating a sustained-release effect that keeps you satisfied for hours. Protein Blends are slower digesting, helping promote satiety and creating a sense of fullness.*

Try Lindberg Protein Blend or Fitness Labs MuscleFit Protein

Plant Protein

Plant proteins are great for people that prefer to avoid milk, dairy and egg. You can purchase individual plant proteins like pea protein, soy protein, pumpkin proteinhemp protein, or a combination plant protein formula.

Flaxseed Oil & Fish Oil (provide Omega-3s)

Flaxseed Oil

Everyone should take 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil and at least one fish oil softgel a day. Flaxseed and certain fish oils supply the body with important omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3s play a critical role in the health of your skin, joints, cell membrane structure, and cardiovascular and nervous systems.*

Flaxseed oil has five times more omega-3s than any other oil. It's a source of the omega-3 fatty acid, alpha-linolenic acid, which cannot be manufactured by your body and must come from your diet. Just a tablespoon of flaxseed oil has 7,600 mg of omega-3s. These omega-3s help counter-balance too much omega-6 fatty acids we get in our typical diets.

Try Lindberg Organic Flax Oil Liquid or Softgels, or Lindberg Omega-3-6-9 or Piping Rock Multi Omega 3-6-9 which is a blend of oils from fish, flax and borage.

Fish Oil

Fish oils, including cod liver oil, provide two other essential omega-3 fats, EPA and DHA.

Try Piping Rock Engelvaer Norwegian Cod Liver Oil.

Or if you prefer softgels, try Lindberg Double Strength Fish Oil, Lindberg Triple Strength Fish Oil or Lindberg Enteric-Coated DHA 500 mg.

You'll get about 900 mg of omega-3s from one triple-strength softgel, which is an excellent daily dose for general health.
