Cut smoking by 14% with omega-3
Omega-3s are the most plentiful fatty acids in the brain, which smoking depletes, making it harder to deal with stress and nicotine cravings. In this study, 48 long-term smokers took 2,710 mg of EPA plus 2,040 mg of DHA per day, or a placebo.

After 30 days, while there was no change for placebo, the omega-3 group had cut smoking by 14 percent, even though they had not been asked to do so. After stopping omega-3s for the next 30 days, cravings increased slightly but still stayed lower than levels at the beginning of the study.
