Control menopause naturally with Menopause Support*

It’s a stage that every woman goes through. Menopause is a natural part of life, and most commonly occurs in a woman’s late 40’s or early 50’s.

Women who go through menopause are no longer fertile, and can no longer reproduce. Many hormonal changes occur before (peri-menopause), and during this stage. Generally, a decrease in the production of estrogen and other hormones occurs during menopause and may cause a variety of symptoms and uncomfortable effects.

Symptoms of menopause

The most common symptom of menopause is ‘hot flashes’ or ‘night sweats’. These flashes can come on at any time in which a sudden feeling of warmth spreads over the body, even causing some sweating or perspiration. Hot flashes can pass in a few minutes, or may be around for what seems like an eternity.

Other symptoms of menopause include vaginal dryness, decreased sex drive (libido), fatigue, racing heart, depression, headaches, anxiety, poor sleep and insomnia, but not all women get these symptoms.

Ease into the transition of menopause

Lindberg developed an exclusive formula with herbal extracts and compounds to help ease into the transition of menopause. These herbs have been used in Europe and Asia for centuries and work together to help control "hot flashes" and other symptoms associated with menopause.*

Each 2 capsule serving includes 500 mg of red clover extract (standardized to 8% isoflavones), 250 mg of dong quai root, 200 mg of chaste tree berry extract (4:1), and 80 mg of black cohosh extract (standardized to 2.5% triterpenes, including 27-deoxyactein).

Let's learn a little about the ingredients...

Black cohosh

The herb black cohosh is native to North America. The roots and rhizomes of this herb are widely used throughout Asia and Europe in the treatment of menopausal and menstrual symptoms. According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, studies have demonstrated that this botanical medicine, when standardized properly to the terpene glycoside fraction, appears to be effective in alleviating menopausal symptoms.*1

In one three-month study of postmenopausal women, a 40 mg extract of black cohosh extract was given per day and it showed to be effective in helping control hot flashes.2  A review of eight trials concluded that black cohosh is safe and effective.*3

The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology posted a bulletin on the use of botanicals for the management of menopausal symptoms. They support the use of black cohosh for up to six months, especially in treating the symptoms of sleep and mood disturbance, and hot flushes.*4

Red clover

Another ingredient used in Lindberg Menopause Support* is red clover extract. As a plant extract, red clover includes all four of the major estrogenic isoflavones: genistein, biochanin, daidzein and formonetin. Red clover is also known as a popular soy alternative. A variety of herbs with actions similar to the effects of soy have traditionally been used for women with menopausal symptoms.5

In a double-blind study, administration of 80 mg of isoflavones per day from red clover reduced the frequency of hot flashes in postmenopausal women. The benefit was noticeable after 4 weeks of use and became more pronounced after a total of 12 weeks.*6

In another double-blind study, an extract of red clover improved symptoms, mood and relaxation in postmenopausal women. The extract provided 80 mg of isoflavones per day and was taken for 90 days.*7

Dong quai

Lindberg Menopause Support* has 250 mg of dong quai root per serving. Dong Quai (Angelica sinensis) has been known as the queen of all female herbs, and is known in China as a "woman's herb," where it has been used for more than 2,000 years. Its reputation is perhaps second only to that of ginseng in the Orient. In fact, dong quai is often referred to as the "female ginseng" because it is used to help minimize the discomforts of menopause and PMS.*

Chaste tree berry

We also add 200 mg of chaste tree berry extract, also known as vitex.  Vitex contains several different constituents, including flavonoids, glycosides, and terpenoids. It may help with the balance of estrogen and progesterone during the menstrual cycle and may help minimize PMS symptoms.*
