Early-stage discoveries: Resveratrol
In the lab, doctors gave mother rats with high blood pressure resveratrol during and for 21 days after pregnancy, and gave resveratrol to their offspring in the first days of life. By adulthood, the offspring had significantly lower blood pressure than their mothers, meaning any hereditary tendency to high blood pressure did not pass to the next generation.
