Fenugreek eases postmenopausal symptoms
In this study, 88 women with moderate to severe postmenopausal discomfort who also reported having a poor quality of life, took a placebo or 1,000 mg of fenugreek extract per day. After 90 days, while the placebo group had not improved, women taking fenugreek reported 54 percent fewer headaches, 57 percent fewer night sweats, 68 percent fewer mood swings, and 75 percent fewer episodes of insomnia. Also, 32 percent of the women experienced no further hot flashes. None of the women reported any adverse effects, a finding confirmed through blood tests.

Women taking fenugreek for 90 days also had higher levels of estradiol, the primary female sex hormone, which regulates the menstrual cycle and supports the reproductive organs and sexual anatomy. Discussing the results, doctors said that fenugreek may be a safe, effective way to alleviate many of the most common symptoms of menopause and help improve quality of life in women.
