Kids and adults need vitamin K

New studies are finding kids need vitamin K to develop bone, and adults need it to delay osteoporosis. In this study, doctors measured vitamin K levels in 896 healthy volunteers and found that children, and adults over age 40, were most likely to be deficient in vitamin K.

Researchers then gave vitamin K2 supplements to 42 children and 68 adults who had low levels. Over a short period of time, both groups showed signs of reaching normal vitamin K2 levels. Doctors said vitamin K can also reduce calcification of the arteries as well as help develop and maintain healthy bone.
