Researchers reviewing recent findings said that omega-3s from fish oil improve these storage and release functions while reducing adipose tissue-specific inflammation, all central factors in metabolic syndrome.
Omega-3s appear to raise blood levels of two key hormones secreted by adipose tissue: adiponectin, which regulates fat and sugar metabolism, and reduces blood vessel inflammation; and leptin, which signals the brain when the body has had enough to eat.
