Milk proteins improved blood pressure in women
Earlier studies found dairy proteins improved blood pressure and vascular function. In this study, 30 obese and sedentary women with high blood pressure, average age 30, exercised three times per week under supervision while taking 30 grams of whey protein per day, 30 grams of casein per day, or a placebo.

After four weeks, while there were no changes for placebo, average systolic blood pressure at the upper arm was 5 mmHg lower in the milk protein groups. In a second test of central blood pressure—to better predict the load on the heart and coronary arteries—aortic systolic pressure was 6 to 7 mmHg lower in the milk protein groups. Researchers also checked arterial stiffness, which had become more flexible in both milk protein groups. Exercise without milk proteins had no effect on blood pressure, suggesting a unique role for dairy products to improve blood pressure, doctors said.
