Early-Stage Discoveries: Vitamin A, C, E and magnesium for hearing

Hearing naturally declines with age, progressing gradually, beginning with higher frequency sounds, and continuing to lower frequencies.

In the lab, mice got vitamins A, C, and E, plus magnesium in the diet for 10 days before a hearing test. Doctors followed for 14 more months, testing hearing along the way.

Compared to those that did not receive these nutrients, those in the vitamins A, C, and E with magnesium group could better detect low- and medium-frequency sounds at lower thresholds.
