Stomach health

Helicobacter pylori are bacteria that infect the stomach and upper intestines, causing chronic inflammation and ulcers, with a possible link to cancer.

Doctors in one study gave over 300 participants with H. pylori the standard antibiotic treatment with or without 500 mg of vitamin C per day for two weeks. Four weeks later, 78 percent of those in the vitamin C group tested negative for the infection compared to 49 percent for the antibiotics-only group.

Researchers concluded that “The addition of vitamin C to H. pylori treatment of amoxicillin, metronidazole and bismuth can significantly increase H. pylori eradication rate.”
