Calcium Citrate
Calcium citrate can be taken on an empty stomach
Calcium citrate is one of the two main forms of calcium (the other is calcium carbonate). Those with reduced levels of stomach acid can absorb calcium citrate more easily than other forms of calcium. It can be taken with or without food. Because calcium citrate has a lower percentage of elemental calcium (21% vs. 40% for calcium carbonate), more pills need to be taken to reach the desired dosage.
