Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is a spice that was once used by ancient Greek physicians to treat a variety of maladies. Today, we know that fenugreek seeds contain trigonelline, lysine and L-tryptophan, as well as saponins that may help block cholesterol absorption. Additionally, fenugreek is a potent antioxidant, and may help modulate blood sugar levels and promote lactation.
