World Powerlifting Federation 2007, 2008 and 2010 World Champion, 2009 Bronze Medal
I’ve used Fitness Labs German Creatine for several years to help me squash the competition. It really works! I feel I can exert more explosive power during my one-rep lifts. I also rely on Fitness Labs Vitamin Pack with Omega-3s , WheyFit Whey Protein Concentrate and L-Glutamine . Seven days prior to competition I take Fitness Labs CreaFit Creatine Transport .
I won gold at the World Championships and am the current USPF National Champion in the combined total for bench press, squat and deadlift for my age group and weight class. My best bench is 363 pounds in competition.
At the 2009 USPF California State Championships, my deadlifting experience was a thrill of a lifetime. I opened with the 551 pound deadlift. As you will see, I ripped it off of the floor.
I felt so good and so confident that I jumped the weight up to 628 pounds for my second attempt. This was the weight that I had hoped to accomplish as my final goal. As you will see, it was an easy lift.
Prior to my third attempt, I faced a dilemma: I didn’t know what weight to call for. Several people gave recommendations. Finally, my partner, who knows me very well, said, “Go for 650. You have nothing to lose and you’re good for it.” As you will see, it proved to be the only challenging lift of the day. It was 49 pounds heavier than my World Record deadlift, which I set in Vienna last November. I emphasize, again, that I believe, nutrition was the key .
I “earned” the title of Champion in the 220 pound Master’s division, but the icing on the cake was taking 3rd place in the 220 pound Open division. These are the strongest guys in California in that weight division. First and second place went to a couple of kids who were 38 and 27 years old, respectively. Third place in the state of California? Who would have thunk it? It’s OK by me!
Here are the links:
2nd Deadlift: 628 lbs.
3rd Deadlift: 650 lbs.
I’m giving myself a deadlift goal of 675 pounds at the National Championships. With wise training and continued emphasis on good nutrition, I’m confident that I can do it.
I want to say a huge THANK YOU to Nutrition Express for all of the support you have given to me in the way of great nutritional products for the last 15 months. It has proven to be good nutrition as it helped catapult me in the great sport of weight lifting beyond my expectations.
Update on 6/28/12: In the deadlift, I own a California State record (661 pounds) and a World Record (655 pounds). My best bench press is 402 pounds and my best squat is 606 pounds.
In the 2012 US Powerlifting Association's CA State Championships, I set three State and American records for my age group and weight class, including squat at 595 pounds and deadlift at 639 pounds.
