Doctors said that previous studies showed people with RA are low in vitamin B6. In a new study, 35 people with RA took 5 mg of folic acid with or without 100 mg of vitamin B6 per day, without taking any other supplements. Three in four were also taking a standard RA drug treatment.
After 12 weeks, while there was no change for the folic-acid-only group, levels of two inflammatory protein molecules were much lower in the vitamin B6 group.
