Spirulina Fights Allergies

A study conducted at the University of California, Davis showed that supplementing with two grams (2,000 mg) a day of spirulina alleviates the effects of allergic rhinitis. Thirty-six allergic rhinitis patients were involved in this double blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study. The subjects taking spirulina experienced a significant reduction in interleuken-4, a compound responsible for production of immunoglobulin E (IgE), a mediator of the symptoms of allergic rhinitis.
